Welcome to my blog!

I'm Lori and I love to craft. I cross stitch, knit and crochet and anything else that takes my fancy! I love to make amigurumi and other knitted and crocheted characters.
I live in the north east of England and when I'm not busy with thread or wool I love to read thrillers and watch things on the TV that make me laugh. I have a love of tattoos too and have quite a collection!

Busy mushrooming :-)

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers, lovely to meet you :-) 81, woohoo!! I'll have another giveaway when I hit the big 100!

This week has been mushroom themed. I had been busy with the 3D cross stitch cottage that's on order but  it's not due until the middle of next month. I'd been busy posting all the pics of my stuff onto my facebook page and I got a custom order from there. A mushroom with a blue door, purple flowers around the door, yellow curtains and two dragonflies one the roof, one bigger than the other. I do love how specific people can be about what they want :-)  So this is the mushroom that I made from that description.

The dragonfly wings are stitched with metallic thread so they really sparkled.

Then I thought I'd better get on with an idea I'd had for a Jubilee Cottage or time would run away from me and I'd be too late! So this is what I came up with,

and a close up of the front detail...

I admit that I'm insanely proud of this one :-) It turned out so much better than I'd expected! I had an order for one in a couple of hours on facebook which I'm busy stitching up now and this one is in my etsy shop. Now I'm thinking of new occasions that I can make them for........I could make this one for the 4th of July with a stars and stripes on the flag pole :-)

So that's what I've been up to this week and the 3D cottage is growing slowly too.

Oh yes, I can now confirm the news I had a couple of weeks ago, sorry to tease you like I did! I was asked if I wanted to be featured in Craftseller magazine and I'm in Issue 11 out on May 8th :-) They are doing a piece in the Crafty Tales section about something that inspired my makes and there will be pics of my stuff, my website address and a pic of me (that is the photo on my profile). All good free publicity!  Speaking of the website, did I actually tell you about setting that up?? I probably forgot sorry! Anyway you can find it here, www.hippywitchcrafts.co.uk  It's a work in progress as I am totally fumbling around in the dark when it comes to web design!

Have a great week!

Busy with custom orders :-) and I won another blog award!

Hello everyone! Good to see a couple of new followers too, welcome :-)

So I'll start with the blog award!

Thanks very much Rhona over at Tangled Threads for passing this on to me :-)

It comes with four rules,

1. Choose five up-and-coming blogs (with fewer than 200 followers) to award the Liebster to.
2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blogs so they know about the award.
4. Share five random facts about yourself that people don't know about you.

so I pass this on to........

Now for the random facts about me :-)

1. I smile at everybody in the street, usually they smile back but I do get a few funny looks, lol! I don't care, I'm happy!

2. I'm a big kid and buy cartoon DVD's all the time, my latest ones are Looney Tunes, The Flumps, Mr Men and Chorlton and the Wheelies. Which reminds me, does anyone else remember Chorlton and the Wheelies? It's my all time favourite and no one else seems to remember it! I have no children they are all just for me :-)

3. Likewise my house is stuffed with cuddly toys (again, big kid!)

4. I hate fudge.

5. I used to get the words wrong to Jingle Bells when I was little, my Mam taped it and had the proof that I would sing 'oh what find in a nishu rind in a one horse open sleigh' instead of 'oh what fun is it to ride.....

Is that random enough :-)

So for the custom makes this week, I had an Easter cake band to stitch and I've been working on it on and off for a couple of weeks, it's finished!!

I also had a request for two octopus felt keyrings...........that had me thinking how can I fit eight tentacles onto something the size of a keyring. I came up with the idea of four on the front and four on the back and a gusset bit in the middle. It worked really well and they even stand up!

Now I'm busy making a 3D cross stitch thatched cottage, again an order, which is fun! Love making unusual things and figuring out odd ones!  I have a little cottage naming challenge on my facebook page at the moment too if anyone wants to make a suggestion, the best one  on Saturday will win a hanging mushroom :-) You can leave your suggestions HERE

Lots and lots of new things!

Hello again and a big welcome to my new followers :-) Lovely to see you!

Well this has been a very busy week! I had a craft fayre on Sunday and lots to get done in time for it. I'm pleased to say I made it and everything was ready to go. It was at the seaside in a building which is across the road from the beach and Sunday was wonderful, sunny and warm. Made a change from last month when it was snowy and ******* freezing!! The weather seemed to bring people out and they were spending, yippee! I had a great day :-) I have to admit it was busy and I forgot to take a pic of my stall as promised with the new bunting on it, ooops sorry! I will remember next month, promise!

So here's some of the new things I had made for the fayre,

Lots of mushrooms :-) All are embroidered front and back like this.....

Also Easter bunnies with teeny pom-pom tails, I only have one of these left after Sunday and chicks too..

Also two Mother's Day cards ready and delivered to my Mam and MIL already for Sunday :-)

It's my parents golden wedding anniversary on Saturday and I stitched them a sampler a few weeks ago, I gave them the sampler today and they loved it I'm pleased to say, here it is all framed up and the card I made to go with it too. I stitched the centre of the sampler for the card so it matched perfectly, I love how they turned out :-)

Also a card for my nephew's birthday this week,

I have crammed in a lot in a week everything but the sampler was made in a week! I never seem to notice how much I've made until it's actually on here in front of me, lol! There's also a new toadstool cottage which I stitched while at the craft fayre, it's nice to sit and make all day while sitting there :-)

I have some news but as I want to make sure everything is set in stone before I let on you'll just have to wait and see........... Sorry to tease you like that but I'm quite excited about it!

It's been ami swap week too! Where every month I swap an amigurumi with the lovely Steph, check out her blog to see lots of loveliness :-)  So this months swap was fabulous as ever, Steph sent me this fabulous Mochiland elf and a very cute mini bunny and little rainbow brooch, how sweet!

and look at the gorgeous card she made me too!!!

How fabulous is that! So I made Steph this granny owl,

I love how this turned out and I'm pleased to say Steph loved it too. I also sent a card and bag of goodies but didn't take a pic of them! Steph did though and you can see them on her blog.  Another fabulous swap thanks Steph! It's always great getting a present each month :-)

So I have a busy week ahead of me, I have a craft fayre next Sunday and a list a mile long of things I want to make for it as well as two Mother's Day cards to get done! I've been making more mushroom decorations like the two in the giveaway. I sold one on Facebook this week, a custom request of a pink door, bunting and a dragonfly on it. Here it is....

I'm working my way through a little pile of them today, they are such fun to embroider as I make them up as I go :-)

Well I better get back to the list, have a great week everyone!
