Welcome to my blog!

I'm Lori and I love to craft. I cross stitch, knit and crochet and anything else that takes my fancy! I love to make amigurumi and other knitted and crocheted characters.
I live in the north east of England and when I'm not busy with thread or wool I love to read thrillers and watch things on the TV that make me laugh. I have a love of tattoos too and have quite a collection!

Charity shop treasure!

Found this stash of crochet cotton at the charity shop around the corner. As you can see three of them haven't even been used and the ones that have are almost full. When I saw them I thought it was a good find but when I asked how much they were and was told 25p each I bought them all! I have no idea what to make with them but they will be used eventually and don't the colours just look pretty anyway :-)

Got these lovely stocks yesterday too, they are so pretty and the house smells gorgeous they have such a strong scent. Makes me happy :-)

Sore hands from knitting and crochet....

I've spent the whole week with either hook or needles in hand and my finger joints are complaining now! I have arthritis in my fingers (and  a lot of other places too unfortunately) and really shouldn't overdo the crochet and knitting ..........but I can't do anything at a 'normal' level, lol! So after all this creating I can only show one picture as the other stuff is for the ami swap and for a birthday pressie so I can't blow the surprise until they're at their new homes :-) This little bunny I knitted yesterday for myself, I give so much of what I make away and thought that I was about time I made another thing for myself!

So this is Bunty the bunny in her posh dress and mary jane shoes, she has blue and white stripy tights too :-) Isn't she cute? I love Debi Birkin patterns as they are simple and always turn out very cute. I have some others on the list of must makes and they might have just moved up the list a little bit :-)

Been busy hooking!

I was busy making the ami for the swap this week, obviously it'll appear here as soon as he's in his new home so I don't spoil the surprise. You'll just have to wait Steph! So after that I decided to carry on crocheting and make a granny square shrug, I love this pattern and have done three of these now, lol! They are just so nice to wear and look good as well as being so quick for instant gratification, it was finished in two days :-)

Love the colour, I used Sirdar Calico cotton so it's perfect for summer (if we get one!) and it's turned out great, I'm very pleased with it.
Also been stitching the flowers for my blind/curtain and got another couple done this week. The colours are really pretty to stitch with but it gets repetitive so every two or three flowers I stop and do something else so I don't get too bored! Hope to get it finished as soon as I can though as I want to get the curtain finished off, it looks at me every time I walk into the kitchen.......

Bit of a quiet week really not that that's a bad thing! I like quiet and no stress so pretty good :-)

Hello!

So today is a rainy dull horrible day here, typical summer day for the north east of England! Been to get my flowers today, aren't they nice to brighten up the day :-)

Well last night Daisy decided it would be really good to try and climb the nets in my kitchen window and basically killed them! I was planning to replace them soon as I had the flower panel stitched for the bottom of my new blind/curtain thingy, it's like a half curtain I had planned and don't know how to describe it! It'll cover some of the window and not get in the way of my plants too. So I took them down and today I made the new curtain and will just have to add the stitched flowers when they're finished. At least it'll spur me on ever time I look at it! Here's the plain curtain, the stitched strip will be added along the bottom edge. Think it'll look pretty with the flowers on, bit boring now though.

Got a gorgeous photo of Poppy yesterday sitting in the sun on the coffee table, all her pretty colours show up in the light. So here's one of my lovely girls,

Finished!!!

After spending weeks making cards and generally being sat on by kittens stopped me from stitching Cozy Night I decided to grab every moment I could to add a bit of stitching to it. This morning I finished! YIPPEE!

Here's the TA-DA moment then.....or it would have been if Daisy hadn't really wanted her photo taken at that moment and wandered onto it, lol!

So here's the real picture :-)

I'm happy with her and glad to get the last page finally finished. Also been busy with cards too, this is for a ruby wedding....

and these two are for Father's Day....

Now I have to get on with the flower panel for the blind if I want to get it in my kitchen this year!

A bit like a second birthday....

The postman brought me some surprises yesterday! There were three more birthday cards and two presents, I do like good post days with no bills and just good stuff, lol!

From my lovely friend Laura I got this ami seahorse, it's just fabulous and the eyes are gorgeous too :-) Thanks Laura it was a lovely surprise. Laura's getting to be a real expert at amigurumi even though she hasn't been making them long, she has a great blog here that's full of her lovely ami's, check it out :-)

I also got a kit to make a fabric origami box which I'm fascinated with, it was from Elspeth, thank you Elspeth! I loved origami when I was younger and this looks like it'll be fun to make, the fabrics are beautiful (different to the ones on the picture) and the tassel for the lid is really pretty. Here's the kit, I'll put a picture of the finished box up when I've made it.

Here's the cards too, from Lauren, Elspeth and Laura. The Hello Kitty one isn't a birthday card but arrived from Steph yesterday too and is too cute to not show!

So, I finished off a card yesterday for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary. I made it up anyway as I've been busy stitching cards on big pieces of aida to just mount up and stash away for occasions coming up, got 5 done including this one so far :-)

Had to show this picture I took last night! For years I've always had a glass of milk at night before I go to bed, love milk and it seems to help me sleep somehow. This has turned into a bit of a running battle with Daisy who also loves milk! Every night she waits and tries to pinch my milk out of the glass, I try to stop her.....as you can see I'm not winning!

She's even figured out of she stands on my sewing box then she can reach further down the glass, lol!
